ROLLING STONES IN RIO DE JANEIRO
COPACABANA BEACH - February 18, 2006

Photos by Mark Lord unless otherwise indicated

The building of the massive stage on Copacabana Beach began about
10-12 days before the show

Building a stage on a beach is a massive undertaking

A grand walkway is created so the band can have access over
the street from the Copacabana Palace Hotel directly to the stage

How the walkway looked
day of show.

Copacabana Palace is on the left.

The stage begins to take shape

The giant bigscreen at the back of the stage is finally finished.

Most of the sound and lights
are up as well.

The crowd gathered early day of show in order to get the best view possible.

At this point, showtime is still many, many hours away and the weather is HOT!

A view from the air. An expected
1.3 million people crowded
Copacabana Beach for the show.
